THREE WAYS TO FIND YOUR RHYTHM

Warm up. Measure. Challenge yourself.

Nothing saved

Practice

A quiet place to build good habits. Pick a timed or word burst, choose a word set, and use the colour-coded keyboard and finger cues.

Practice stays in your session. It never enters your history or the leaderboard.
Your personal progress

Typing tests

Choose an English passage and difficulty, or let Type surprise you. See your speed and accuracy, track your personal best, and set a weekly test goal.

Tests save to your history and are available to your school’s teachers/admins in Student results. Personal tests do not enter school rankings.
A shared challenge

Competitions

Join a challenge organised by your school. Every participant gets the same passage, with clear dates, attempt limits and submission rules.

Valid student results reach the school leaderboard after the competition is published.

A PLACE FOR YOUR WHOLE SCHOOL

One space. A clear role for everyone.

Your SchoolGo account determines what you can do in Type.

Students

Practise, take personal tests, follow your progress and join competitions you’re eligible for. Start with accuracy; speed can follow.

Teachers & staff

Create school, year-group or selected-student competitions. Track participation, review results and publish the challenges you organise. Your own tests stay separate from student rankings.

School admins

Support competitions across your school, check participation, review flagged competition results and manage publication or cancellation.

GOOD TO KNOW

Before your first keystroke.

Which SchoolGo account should I use?

Use your personal, named SchoolGo Email login. Shared school accounts, System Keys, Lab sessions and parent accounts cannot enter Type as named users. If your account cannot connect, ask your school admin to check your People record and role.

What should I know before starting a competition?

Read the dates, attempt limit and submission mode first. Starting uses an attempt slot, even if you leave. Auto mode records when you finish; manual mode needs you to press Submit before the competition closes. Scheduling freezes the passage and participant list.

Why might the leaderboard be empty?

The leaderboard contains valid student results from published competitions. It excludes personal tests, staff results, cancelled competitions and unresolved flagged results. Names are masked by default, for example “Ahmad B.”

How are speed and accuracy shown?

Net WPM measures speed using correctly typed final characters. Gross WPM includes all typed characters. Accuracy shows how accurately you typed. Scored results are checked by the server; Backspace is allowed and pasting is blocked.

What about shared computers?

Check that your own name is shown before typing. When finished, sign out of both Type and SchoolGo. Signing out of one does not automatically sign you out of the other.
